Nigeria: Uduaghan Frowns At Infighting in Health Sector

Delta State governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has expressed worry over the intrigues and infighting going on among stakeholders in the health sector.

Dr Uduaghan who expressed dissatisfaction over the ugly situation when the senate committee on health paid him a courtesy visit in Asaba said the infighting was uncalled for as it had negatively affected the image of the sector.

He disclosed that the passage of the National Health Bill would help streamline the challenges facing the health sector.

The governor observed that the National Health Bill was critical to the development of the sector as it would help address the challenges of lack of infrastructure and personnel in the sector.

"We are worried about the infighting among stakeholders in the health sector. The sector is faced with a lot of challenges that is why the National Health Bill is critical to those of us in the sector because the passage of the Bill will help regulate the sector," he said.

In an interview with LEADERSHIP the chairman of the committee, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa said that many of the challenges in the health sector were addressed during the NMA health summit in Asaba.
