Nigeria: 113 Year-Old Keffi Central Mosque Imam Dies

Lafia — Alhaji Mahmoud Ladan Kambari, Chief Imam of the ancient Keffi in Nasarawa State, died at the early hours of yesterday. He was aged 113, according to his children.

Sule Ladan, the deceased eldest son told newsmen that the late Imam died at about 4.45am after a protracted ailment. He said the centenarian left behind four wives and 28 children as well as over 50 grand and great grand children.

The centenarian who was also an Islamic scholar, according to his son, was buried at about 10am according to Muslim rites.

Former Nasarawa State governor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa-West PDP), a former minister, Dr. Hassan Lawal, and a host of other dignitaries were part of the large crowd of sympathizers that trooped into his residence to condole the bereaved family.
