Nigeria: 2015 Election - Don't Distract Jonathan, Says Presidency

The Presidency Wednesday said that the plot to draw President Goodluck Jonathan into discussions on whether he signed an agreement with the governors elected on the platform of the PDP for one term of four years is an attempt to distract him from his focused attention of transforming Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, the Presidency said, "From time immemorial, for every major event or contest in the world, there is always a time and a season apportioned".

According to Okupe, "We wish to state categorically that this is neither the time nor the season to begin electioneering campaign or related discourse for the 2015 presidential elections and so President Goodluck Jonathan will not jump the gun".
