A 50-year-old man, Abdullahi Berende, has told security operatives that he was trained by Iranian officials to spy for them and attack some Israeli targets in Nigeria.

Apart from the Israeli targets, he was also to, on behalf of Iran, cause uproar in Nigeria by targeting some top Nigerian officials including former Nigerian President, Ibrahim Babangida, and former Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki, the suspect said.

Mr. Berende, an indigene of Ilorin, Kwara State, said he recruited three other Nigerians for the task.

The State Security Service paraded Mr. Bende and two of his accomplices on Wednesday.
