Kaduna — Former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sherriff yesterday said he has no disagreement with his successor, Governor Kashim Shettima over the latter's plan to recontest the 2015 governorship election.
Sherriff, through his special assistant; Umar Duhu said in Kaduna that with the developmental projects embarked by the Borno State governor; even his political opponents will be willing to support him for a second term in office.
The former governor said he has confidence on the governor as the only person to deliver dividends of democracy to the state and called on the people to disregard rumours of rift between them.
"It is indeed unfortunate that the enemies of progress have conceptualized yet another cunning placards predisposing a conspiracy that the incumbent Governor of Borno State Kashim Shettima and Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff are at collision over 2015.
"I want to reaffirm the support and unconditional confidence of Senator Sheriff to His Excellency, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State. For the avoidance of doubt, Sheriff is solidly in support of Governor Kashim's giant strides in Borno State because of the governors' approach to the current security issues, human capital development through opening and the diversification of the agricultural sector, education and social services sectors," Duhu said.
He added that Sheriff is ready and will ensure that the reign of Governor Kashim spans beyond 2015.
"We are calling on all Nigerians to continue to accord Governor Kashim and Borno State with constructive prayers to succeed and for a lasting peace to return to the Home of Peace. We also call on mischief makers to desist from distracting the achieving governor from his excellent performances. We are not oblivious of the fact that the enemies of progress will continue to lose sleep just to divert the attention of Kashim from continuing his selfless services delivery to the citizenry and Sheriff is for Governor Kashim comes 2015," Duhu added.
