Namibia: Khomas to Revive Floundering Darts

THE Khomas Region Darts Committee plan to hold its annual general meeting in Windhoek tomorrow.

The AGM will address, among other matters, the declining interest and competitiveness of the sport in the region.

The meeting is set for the Afrox Darts Club at the Ray-Mall Engineering premises in Prosperita.

"Many players that used to play are not playing any more. The Khomas Region Darts Committeeis therefore appealing to old players to return to darts," said KRDC secretary Mkhululi Khupe.

He added that the committee was looking at getting substantive investors on board in order to attract more players.

"The Khomas Region is not as strong as it was before, now regularly coming second to other regions in regional competitions, especially to Erongo Region.

With the addition of the City of Windhoek Darts Club to its roster, the KRDC now has five clubs which will contest in its league and various tournaments, including the lucrative Afrox Ray-Mall Darts contest worth N$50 000 to be held in August.

The administrator said more teams and players are needed to join in order to improve the talent pool.
