Gambia: Farafenni Marathon Set for March

Nbr — This year's edition of the annual Farafeni Marathon is set to take place on Saturday 9th of March, 2013 at the North Bank Region settlement.

This was revealed to this reporter by Yahya Jobe, the chairman of the Farafeni Marathon Association (FMA). He said the event would attract many dignitaries and spectators from Farafenni and its surrounding settlements with athletes coming from different walks of life.

There will be a 10-kilometer race for men while women will take part in the 5-kilometer race. The 15-kilometer bicycle race will also take place. There will also be a fundraising in the form of a wrestling contest at the Farafeni Mini-Stadium.

Jobe appealed for support from the general publicin the area of T-shirts, airtime, phonecards, refreshment, snacks, certificates, prizes as well as accommodation. He added that they will not achieve any success without financial and technical support from their esteemed supporters.
