Gambia: Basse Murder Convict's Appeal On Course

The criminal appeal case involving two murder convicts, Bakary Demba and Modou Colley, and the state resumed on Thursday, February 14th 2013, and proceeded before the Gambia Court of Appeal.

The appellants, Bakary Demba and Modou Colley were convicted and sentenced to death by the High Court in Basse on the 31st May 2011 for the offence of the murder of one Demba Seebi, on 27th January 2011 at Numuyel, in the Upper River Region.

During the sitting, the appellants' counsel, Lawyer Aji Combeh Gaye informed the said court that the record of appeal needed some rectification and however craved the court's indulgence for a short adjournment.

Meanwhile, the matter was adjourned to the 14th March 2013 for mention.
