Nigeria: Volleyball Federation Set to Distribute 18,000 Balls, 114 Nets

The Volleyball Federation of Nigeria has concluded arrangements to distribute at least 18,000 quality balls and 114 nets to all the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital territory.

The federation says this is part of its elaborate strategy to make the game popular and also take it to the nooks and crannies of the country.

The President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation and Executive member of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee, Engineer Habu Gumel said the recipients would take home fifty balls and four nets at the presentation ceremony which will hold today at media centre of the Abuja national stadium.

Gumel who is also the 1st Vice President of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), said the gesture is coming courtesy of the international volleyball body as part of it's global development programme, and expressed hope the support will impact positively on the development of the sport in the states.

He also expressed hope that the kind gesture will support the federation's efforts in engaging the youths meaningfully through the game of volleyball.

Gumel who described the gesture as one of the numerous benefits of having a Nigerian at the decision -making circles of continental and international sports bodies applauded FIVB for its worldwide support for the sport.
