As the FCT council polls slated for March 16 draw nearer, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) on Monday constituted its chairmanship campaign committee with former House of Representatives Member, Dino Melaye, as Director-General.
Speaking at the occasion, Melaye, who is also the leader of Anti-Corruption Network, said he accepted the task due to his readiness to work for ACN at any level whenever he is called to, adding that Nigerians living in AMAC are yearning for change, which the party will provide.
"Abuja, especially the municipal, is very strategic to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, so we cannot leave it in the hands of looters. We need to take over the capital city so that we can inject some positivity into it. We shall dedicate our time to it, and by the grace of God, we shall block every rigging holes that have been dug by the PDP," he said.
He called on the party faithful to work assiduously in order to ensure that the election is not rigged as well as not allow themselves to be commercialized by the ruling party.
Responding, AMAC ACN chairmanship candidate, Ishaku Tanko Yamawo, expressed appreciation to Melaye for accepting to head the campaign team, saying his name alone could bring success to the party at the polls.
The campaign committee, which is expected to draw support for the ACN chairmanship candidate in AMAC, has 17 members which include Dogo Kura as Deputy Director General, Abubakar Suleiman as Director, Planning and Strategy, Abbas Baba as Director of Finance and Administration as well as Hauwa Abila as Director of Women Affairs among others.
