Kenya: Gunmen Kill Seven in Garissa

Seven people were killed this morning by unknown gunmen at Meleiley village in Garissa. The area is near the Somali border.

The seven who included five men and two women were murdered in their home at 5 30am as they were preparing to go to the mosque for the morning prayers.

Garissa county commissioner Maalim Mohamed confirmed the incident stating that there were 20 gunmen involved. "We still don't know the motive behind this attack but have launched investigation into the mater,"said Maalim.

He said that a contingent of security officers drawn from the GSU, regular and administration police from Dadaab are combing the area for the suspects.
