Egypt: Shura Council Discusses Amendments to Parliamentary Elections Law

Chairman of the Shura Council (upper house of parliament) thanked on Thursday Egypt's High Constitutional Court for its legal recommendations on the new parliamentary elections law.

Ahmed Fahmy added that as the country's legislature, the council must take into account the court's observations.

Egypt's Constitutional Court said on Monday that it has concerns over five of the articles of the new parliamentary elections law, sending the law back to the council to amend it.

The upper house convened on Thursday to discuss the amendments.
