Kenya: Wesonga Happy With His Call Up to National Team

Batsman Dominic Wesonga has welcomed Monday's call-up to national cricket squad for the upcoming Pepsi ICC Africa World Cricket League Division 1 tournament.

Wesonga replaced fellow Kongonis team-mate Shem Obado, who was surprisingly left out of the 14-man squad. The right-handed Wesonga has been impressive with the bat lately thus earning his place in the team. "There's time for everything and I feel this call up has come at the right time for me.

I was determined to do well this season. I didn't have a good time in my last tour with the team, so I wanted to do well," Wesonga said. "I trained a lot, played local matches. I got the opportunity to play in the warm-up games and I batted well against good bowling attack. It was a good finish to the domestic season but my career has just started."

The tournament will be held in Kampala from February 23 to March 1.
