Nigeria: Fire Razes 147 Shops, Five Houses Kubo-Abuja

No fewer than 147 shops and five houses were razed by fire yesterday in Kubo furniture market along Mararaba/ Nyanya road.

The fire which is said to have started at about 11pm in the night took rescue agencies about six hours to put out. An eyewitness who was at the scene said started at about 11am, but could not really say what caused the fire.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on hearing about it quickly mobilised rescue team for swift response. The rescue team of the NEMA, Federal Fire Service and the Police were all at the scene of the fire.

Although the Rescue Officers had a hectic time putting out the fire, but so far, no life was lost.
