Sumbe — A medicines factory is being built in Longa zone, Porto Amboim Municipality, in the central Kwanza Sul Province, in an investment of Angolan and Chinese entrepreneurs, which is estimated at 7 billion Angolan Kwanzas (USD 01 equals AKZ 100).
The information was given on Wednesday by the Angolan businessman Armando José António Kapassola, during the launching of the foundation stone for the mentioned undertaking, whose works may last four months, under the financing of a Chinese firm.
"In the first stage, we intend to make physiological saline, with the capacity of 8.000 liters per day", said the businessman on an interview, adding that the referred financial amount will be spent gradually, that is, in the first stage the investment will be of 5 billion kwanzas.
He also explained that the project came about due to the cases of malaria that continues to be the main cause of death in Angola.
"We've advised by Chinese partners to install a medicines plant, so in the second stage it will be invested 2 billion kwanzas and we'll start making antimalarials", he informed.
