Nigeria: Three Killed in Ekiti Auto Crash

Ado-Ekiti — Three people died on Wednesday in an auto crash which occurred along Ikere-Ise Ekiti road. A witness told journalists yesterday that the incident occurred at Afolu Farmstead on Ise Road when a Toyota Diana pick up, marked Ondo XB 921 KAA and a Mazda car, marked Abuja XV 605 ABC, collided. The source said three people died on the spot.

While the pick-up vehicle was said to have been heading towards Ise Ekiti from Ikere Ekiti, the other vehicle was coming from Emure Ekiti, a neighbouring community to Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission in Ekiti State, Mr Rindom Kumven, said he was not aware of the accident, but the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Mr. Victor Babayemi Olu, confirmed the incident.

He said his men visited the scene, and that the two vehicles had been towed to Ise Ekiti police station for further investigation.

"This morning (Thursday's morning) one man came to claim ownership of one of the vehicles, so we are relying on him for more information on what actually transpired. His information will help us in our investigation," he said.
