Nigeria: Court Dissolves 4-Year-Old Marriage Over Husband's Lying Habit

Ilorin — An Ilorin Area Court on Thursday dissolved a four-year-old marriage between Musilimat Muritala and Muritala Nureni over husband's lying habit.

Musilimat, 39, a resident of Isale Koko area of Ilorin, had prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to Nureni, who she accused of lying always.

She told the court that her husband formulate lies and had never for once been sincere to her since they got married.

"My husband lied to me that he was travelling to Ibadan not until my younger sister saw him in Offa on Dec. 27, 2012," she said.

According to her, the marriage was contracted in 2009 and has produced two female children.

"My lord, I want an end to this marriage because I hate liars and talkativeness," said the complainant.

The defendant did not object to the prayer of his wife, saying that she was free to go.

"I intentionally prefer telling her lies because she does not open up to me as well," he said.

The Presiding Judge, Mr Ibrahim Abdulquadri, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to the plaintiff. NAN
