Nigeria: Mining - FG to Commence Verification of Explosives

Verification of commercial explosives used for mining in the country will commence soon, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Arch Musa Muhammad Sada has said.

Sada made this known at the stakeholders consultative forum on control of commercial explosives held yesterday in Abuja.

The minister said the action was an effort to ensure that adequate measures were put in place to forestall lapses in the importation, transportation, storage, sale and use of high explosives.

He said FG has commenced the review of the Explosives Act, 1964 and Explosive Regulations of 1967 with a view to addressing the security challenges.
