Badinyaa One Family Association, a voluntary organisation based in Brikama, recently staged its fourth annual musical jamboree dubbed 'Briks-tone Fiesta'.
This year's event with the theme "A healthy nation our priority' was designed to complement government efforts in the area of health care, as the proceeds from the fiesta always go tosupport the Brikama Major Health Center. With it's ever growing trend, the fiesta was conceived and founded by Marshal Telisman aka Pa Sanyang, a Gambian based in Scotland.
At a meeting held at the Brikama Area Council prior to the fiesta, the officer in charge of Brikama Health Center, Ensa Jarjue, commended the association for the move, saying the health center's relationship with the association is a long and cordial one.
He stated that the association has conducted several humanitarian assistanceprogrammes for the health center and that this has always moved the health facility to another level. He then called on others to emulate Badinyaa in the development of the country's health care sector.
For his part, the coordinator of Badinyaa, Alieu Darboe, said his association has been rendering volunteer work for the purpose of promoting quality health care. This, he said, was the reason they decided to choose the theme "A healthy nation is a wealthy nation" as their slogan.
The Briks-Tone Fiesta, he further stated, is now aiming to raise more awareness on culture, tradition and the promotion of Gambia's tourism sector in their quest to attract more international visitors to the country.
