South Africa: Creative Hub Offers Free Desk

Andrew Kyriako (director of Spitfire Films) and Liesl Karpinski (producer at Aces-Up) have brought together their strengths, experiences and passion for the advertising and film industry in order to start the Creative Collective in Dunkeld, Johannesburg

Within walking distance from the Hyde Park shopping centre, the pair's creative space is home to their two companies. Spitfire Films focuses on creative content and Aces-Up specialises in animation and digital.

The office space offers freelancers a free desk to work at and an edit suite, which can be rented out. A mini art gallery can also be found within the space and is used as a platform for artists to display their craft. A multi-purpose recording studio will soon be added to the offering, creating a one-stop-shop environment for all creative needs.

The Star Factory, a casting agency headed by casting director Anita Schonauer, makes use of the creative office environment regularly. She says the concept of a creative collective is just what the industry needs.

Karpinski hopes that this hub will be where new and exciting creative ideas are born and seen through to execution.
