Zimbabwe: Mayowe's Body Flown to Bikita

The body of the late Zimbabwe ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo Cde John Mayowe was flown to his rural home in Bikita, Masvingo this morning.

The people of Bikita will have a chance to bid farewell to the national hero before the body is taken back to Harare this evening.

A church service was held at One Commando Barrack before the body was flown to Bikita in a Zimbabwe National Army helicopter.

Zanu-PF secretary for production and labour Cde Dzikamai Mavhaire, Major General Engelbert Rugeje and Retired Brigadier General Gibson Mashingaidze accompanied the body.

On its return to Harare, Cde Mawoye's body will lie in state at his Greendale home ahead of burial tomorrow at the National Heroes Acre. Cde Mawoye succumbed to cancer in South Africa last Saturday where he was receiving medical treatment. He was 60.

He is survived by wife Tendai and five children.
