Kibuku county MP Saleh Kamba survived spending a night in police cell following his arrest on Thursday afternoon over allegations of having forged academic papers he presented for his nomination.
The MP was released on police bond after recording a statement at the Police Special Investigations Unit (SIU), in Kireka, a city surbub.
The legislator is accused of issuing false academic documents to seek re-election in the 2011 general elections in Pallisa district for which he emerged victor, sources at Kampala Metropolitan Police sources told The New Vision.
Kamba was Thursday evening arrested by the police from an unspecified Kampala location before he was whisked to SIU.
"We are questioning him for purposes of recording a statement in connection to his alleged forged academic papers," said Judith Nabakooba, the Police publicist.
