East African Cement through their Blue Triangle brand have extended Sofapaka sponsorship by Sh3 million for the 2013 Kenya Premier League season. Sofapaka will now get Sh33 million for the 2013 up from Sh30 million when the deal was signed in 2009.
Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa, said they are keen to prolong the contract to three or four years. "We are looking at having the contract for a minimum of three to four years and we are grateful for the results achieved with the sponsorship," added Kalekwa.
East African Portland Cement managing director, Kepha Tande, said he was delighted with the club's performance in the recent past and was keen on along term sponsorship package.
"We are not here for a short time. We want to be with Sofapaka for the long period and ensure they win more trophies," added Tande. Kalekwa said they will go all out to win all he trophies on offer this season after finishing trophy-less in the last two campaigns.
"We came very close to winning the FKF last year and the previous year so we want to go one step better and win the trophy alongside the League," added Kalekwa
Kalekwa said winning Charity Cup early this month had given them confidence to start the league campaign on a good note.
