Egypt Totally Immune Against Shiitism - AWQAF Minister

Egypt's Awqaf minister Talat Afifi stressed that Egypt is a moderate Muslim country and is totally immune against Shiitism.

"There is no way that Shiitism will find a place at al-Azhar which is known for its moderation in the entire Muslim world", Afifi said.

He warned that the Egyptian-Iranian rapprochement should be cautiously considered because the Iranians have a certain ideology that they are trying to spread.

On commenting on the recent visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Egypt, Afifi said such a visit should be regarded like any other visit paid by an official.
