Eritrea: Office of Police Forces Calls On Citizens to Extend a Helping Hand Towards Promoting Safe Driving

Asmara — The Office of the Eritrean Police Force has called on citizens to extend a helping hand towards promoting safe driving.

Col. Beraki Haile, head of crime prevention in the Head Office, disclosed that the cause of the majority traffic accidents pertains to discourtesy to abiding by law and lack of responsible driving. "The year 2012 is one in which a 20% increase was witnessed regarding traffic accident vis-à-vis growing instance of traffic law offence, and we call on drivers and pedestrians to adhere to responsibility in travelling," he said.

To the contrary, instance of other types of crime is not much of a concern thanks to the prevailing impact of cultural values in the country and the collaboration of the people with Police Forces as regards prevention of crime, Col. Beraki added.
