Egypt: Early Calls for Boycott, Flight From Battle - Mostafa Al-Nagar

Mostafa Al-Nagar, head of the Liberal Adl Party and former member of the dissolved parliament, said on Saturday that the decision to boycott the upcoming parliamentary elections will not be effective unless it was collective and from a real force with a reasonable weight in the political equation.

Nagar added, on his personal Twitter account, that the boycott will be useless unless it was a popular boycott that casts doubt on the credibility of elections.

He said that the decision to boycott the next elections would empty the territory for the ruling party and its allies, which will help them, tighten their grip over the legislative and executive authorities.

"The early calls for a boycott are a flight from an ongoing battle," Nagar said, pointing to the importance of electoral battle in order to achieve popular demands.
