Plans to secure sponsorship package for Gambia 2nd division leagues with a cellular company has been revealed.
The disclosure by the Normalisation Committee reels hot on the heels of cries to up Gambia's domestic football through involvement of companies.
Companies have taken back seat if not disinterest in Gambia's domestic football -with exception of Gambia national team games - for years and new plans to secure a sponsorship package for the lower tiers will be exciting prospects to fans.
But intentions to pockets a package will requires certain terms agreed and GFA has open its door for Qcell Company Limited to pen a deal to cover the 2nd divisions.
"What we are now trying to do is to find another contract for the second division and other categories. Qcell is branded Serrekunda West" Omar Sey, the lone speaker during the question and answer session.
Gamtel-GFA deal at a hitch?
Gamtel were announced as recent sponsors of the Gambia First Division but efforts to complete the contract worth 4 million is proving a hitch.
Gamtel officials have kept tight-lipped over reason for dragging and did not show up during yesterday's conference. Effort to reach its chairman proved vain at press time.
