The minister of labour, John Munyes has appointed 12 officials to head the Micro and Small Enterprise Authority. It will be chaired by Thomas Kigoi while Patrick Mwangi will be the acting chief executive officer.
The president accented to the Micro and Small Enterprise law in January, this board will oversee implementation of the act. The new law will formulate and review policies and programs for micro and small enterprises and is also expected to advise government on zoning of land and give the people space to set up and operate from.
The act will also see the setting up of a MSE tribunal with offices in the 47 counties to handle disputes in the sector estimated to have 800 member associations.
