Egypt/Congo-Kinshasa: Al Ahly Claim 5th African Super Cup

Egyptian giants Al Ahly beat AC Leopards of Congo 2-1 to win their 5th African Super Cup at Bog El Arab stadium i the port city of Alexndria.

Goals from Ramy Moustafa and Mohamed Barakat. were enough to overcome a determined Congolese side who put on a brave fight on the night.

Ahly started out strong and forays from the right flank where Sayed Hamdy was a constant threat with runs that produced several good crosses into the box. On 8th minute one such cross found Ahmed Darwish in the box but his shot which was on traget was diverted for a corner as Ahly stretched out the Congolese defence

Ahly then went close after good work from Mohamed Barakat whose deliftful cros was headed by Darwish but the header was straight into goalkeeper Gildas Kihouoko's hands.

AC captain Rudy Ndey got the best chance for his side after 20 minutes,collecting a long ball on his chest from Kombo Bienenu he attempted an acrobatic kick but his shot hit into the ground lacked the sting to trouble Sherif Ekramy Ahmed in goal for Al Ahly.

Abdalla Said-Bekhit caved a opening for himself just outside the box and curled a shot which was wide by a few centimeters the midfielder was at the end of a through ball but could not beat the advancing goalkeeper. It was Ahly crafting chance after cahmce but failing to breach Kihouko's goal. On 36th minute AC Leopards could have taken the lead against the run of play but Ndey's effort after rounding up Ekramy -Ahmed came off the up upright to leave the teams goaless at half time. It was a long hanging ball that caused a mix-up between Wael Gomaa- Kamel ad Housam Mohamed- Ashour that allowed Ndey to run onto the loose ball and waltz past Ekramy-Ahmed but with the angle dwindling his left for effort was revented from making it 1 nil by the post.

Second half started as the first had ended with Ahly pappering the Leopards goal. Barakat's fine run ended with a dangerous delivery into the box but all the on rushing players mixed the ball. Leopards' Preston Lakolo tried to turn in a dropped ball by Ahly goalkeeper but his effort was off target . 55 minutes into the game an Ahly move on the left flank saw Said-Bekhit set up Ramy Moustafa who first time shot from outside the box beat a diving Kihouko for the opening goal.

After the goal Leopards quicke up the pace and there was more service from the flanks with Chance Gombessa on the right and Bievenu on left coming alive. On 65th minute Ntela Kalema's diagonal ball released Bievenu but his shot was superbly saved by Ekramy -Ahmed. Notlong after that, Said Bekhit produced yet another telling pass which Barakat got to the end of in the box before placing his powerful shot past Kihouko. Leopards reduced the arrears on 77th minute when their outstanding playeon the night, Rudy Ndey held off Gomaa in the box before firing his shot across Ekramy -Ahmed's diving body. The goal made the last ten minutes even more exciting as both teams went in search of the next goal but therewasn't to be any addition to the score and Ahly won their 5th African Super Cup
