Tunisia: Creation of Judicial Authority Vital, Says Ben Jaafar

Tunis — National Constituent Assembly (NCA) Speaker Mustapha Ben Jaafar said on Friday, during his meeting with members of the Tunisian Judges Association executive board, that the creation of an interim judicial authority has become vital for Tunisia.

He added that he will raise the issue to the Assembly board meeting on Friday, to schedule its discussion in a plenary session not later than the second week of March, and put it as a priority issue on the NCA works' agenda, which is being worked out.

The AMT members led by Chairwoman Kalthoum Kannou stressed the need to establish an independent and neutral magistracy that guarantees the rights of law subjects, in line with the democratic transition process.
