Tunisia: Marzouki to Submit a Letter of Appointment to Ali Larayedh

Carthage — Official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic Adnan Mansard said, during a meeting on Friday between President Moncef Marzouki, Ennahdha Movement Leader Rached Ghannouchi and Shura Council Chairman Fethi Ayadi, that the President of the Republic had been informed that Ali Larayedh was chosen as the candidate of Ennahdha for the position of PM.

At a news conference at the end of the meeting, Mr Mansar announced that Mr Marzouki will submit to Mr. Larayedh a letter of appointment on Friday afternoon.

He has to present his cabinet and his programme to the President of the Republic in a period not exceeding 15 days.

Mr. Mansar said that the President will submit within three days, the file of the new government to the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) Speaker, adding that in case it does not have the Assembly's confidence, the President of the Republic will choose "the most eligible person."

Meanwhile, the outgoing government is in charge of day-to-day management till the formation of a new government, said the official spokesman, referring to the Republican Bylaw n°31.
