Sudan: '5 Injured' in Two Attacks On Commercial Vehicles, S. Darfur

Gereida — Five people were critically injured in two separate attacks by an armed group on commercial vehicles in Gereida, South Darfur, onlookers told Radio Dabanga.

The first incident took place on Wednesday in the area of Tegriba, south of Gereida, when militias opened fire on a commercial vehicle traveling from a market in Tegriba to Gereida city.

An activist reported that two people were severely injured in the attack and the vehicle was looted.

Three people were badly hurt in a second incident on the road connecting Jughana and Gereida, in which militias opened fire on a commercial vehicle.

According to the activist, two out of the total five victims were taken to a Nyala hospital for treatment. Those in less bad conditions were transferred to Gereida.

The activist appealed to authorities to put an end to criminal activities by government militias in the region and to bring those involved in the events in Gereida to justice.
