AZANIA Bank Limited has donated 10m/- to Mahege Secondary School in Rufiji District, Coast Region to finance construction of a dining hall, a project that started a few years ago.
The Azania Bank Principal Business Development Officer, Mr Othman Jibrea, said at the handing over ceremony at Mahege Village over the weekend that the donation was in line with the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. Mr Jibrea expressed optimism that the donation would improve learning conditions at the school.
"It is the tradition of Azania Bank to give back to the society in line with our Corporate Social Responsibility programme. We understand the trouble students go through during meals because of the lack of dining facilities at the school. "Azania Bank is today donating 10m/- that will help in financing the school's dining construction project.
We believe our donation will go a long way in creating a good studying environment at the school," Mr Jibrea added. He noted that his bank will continue supporting various community projects across the country in various sectors including health and education.
"We have supported various projects in health and education sector. This year we have rendered support to the Breast Cancer campaign and we will continue supporting various community development projects this year," Mr Jibrea said.
Earlier, the Mahege Secondary school Headmaster Faulu Maeda noted that more funds were needed to finalise construction of the hall and called other firms and individuals to extend a helping hand.
"We are thankful for the support rendered by Azania Bank. Completion of the Mahege dining all project has a long way to go. "We call upon other firms to offer material and monetary support to enable us complete the project," Maeda said.
