National Blood Services Zimbabwe board has been dissolved barely two months after a forensic audit unearthed administrative and financial irregularities that have threatened to tear the organisation apart. Only board chairman, former High Court judge Justice L Smith, has been retained while others have been shown the exit.
Board Members who were booted out include Parirenyatwa Hospital chief executive Mr Thomas Zigora, blood donor Mrs Christine Shaamano, Association of Health Care Funders of Zimbabwe chief executive Mrs Shylet Sanyanga and National Aids Council financial director Mr Albert Manenji.
NBSZ's public affairs manager Ms Esther Massundah confirmed that the old board was dissolved and a new board, comprising of blood donors, is already in place.
"We now have a new board, comprising of blood donors and we will soon announce it."
