A 45-year-old security guard, Taofeek Kolawole, was nabbed on Friday, for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl.
The suspect, a security guard with a Chinese Company, allegedly lured the primary six pupil with a gift of a mobile phone.
The girl had gone to fetch water at a house in Kemta Housing Estate, where the suspect was working as a guard, when he took advantage of her.
The suspect allegedly deceived the girl to come inside his house to get the phone gift, and used the opportunity to pounce on her.
The victim's mother suspected her daughter was late. She went to the suspect's house, saw her daughter's bucket, and knocked on the guard's door.
When the door was not opened, she alerted neighbours.
The guard opened the door, attempted to run away, leaving his victim inside his room; but was apprehended and handed over to the police station in the estate.
As at the time of this report, the suspect was being investigated, while the victim was taken to Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, for medical examination.
The Children's Protection Network, CPN, a coalition of Non-Governmental Organisations, NGO's, has already demanded the prosecution of the suspect.
When contacted, the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrest and said the police would investigate the incident.
"The suspect is in our custody as investigation continues. We have also taken the victim to hospital for medical examination," Mr. Adejobi said.
