AFTER flopping at the Africa Open last week, Zimbabwean golfer Ryan Cairns redemed himself by making the cut at The Dimension Data pro-am at Montagu Golf Course in George, South Africa, yesterday . After missing the cut at last week's Africa Open in Johannesburg, Cairns had two good first rounds in George, managing a 70 and 74 to make it through to the final two rounds of the tournament.
Cairns, who took part in the same tournament with fellow countryman Micky Hough who missed the cut, finished on five-over-par after four rounds.
In the third and fourth rounds Cairns, however, could not impress as he scored 71 and a disappointing 79 yesterday.
For his efforts Cairns received a cheque for R8 250 rich.
The Zimbabwean had to tie with South Africans Ryan Tipping and Brett Liddle in the event whose cut was made on four-over.
South Africa 's Jaco Van Zyl won the tournament on 17-under-par to pocket R594 375.
The event was Cairns' fourth of the season and has missed the cut only once in what looks like a promising season.
