Nigeria: Two FCT Students Receive 5-Yr Korea Scholarship Award

Two students from FCT public schools have received five years scholarship award to enable them travel to Korea in furtherance of their education.

Muslima Ahmad of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Abaji, and Godswill Okpala of Government Secondary School, (GSS) Nyanya, are the two beneficiaries and are to study computer engineering and mechanical engineering respectively.

Secretary, FCT Secondary Education Board, Hajiya Yelwa Fatima Baba-Ari, who was represented at the event by a Deputy Director, Mrs. Irene Adebgola Elegbede, presented the award and travel documents to the beneficiaries, adding that the award is a collaboration between the FCT Administration and the Korean Embassy.

She said the scholarship award for the two successful students came on the heels of a keenly contested essay and quiz competition held in all the schools across the area councils.

Godswill Okpala, one of the recipients, commended the Secondary Education Board and the Korean Embassy for the opportunity, while the other recipient, Muslima Ahmad, described the award as a lifetime opportunity.

Both students called on the FCT Administration to invest more in public schools and promised to do their best and not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
