Nigeria: Unilorin ASUU Dissociates Self From Court Ruling

Ilorin — Following the National Industrial Court (NIC) ruling sacking the Wahab Egbewole-led executive of the Academic Staff Union of Nigeria Universities(ASUU) University of Ilorin chapter, members of the union have passed a vote of confidence on the executive and dissociated themselves from the ruling.

National President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Fagge, had in a statement hailed the judgement and asked the university authorities to uphold the rule of law.

Our correspondent reports that following the NIC ruling, the Egbewole-led team which is the executive recognised on campus called a congress, after which a communique signed by Egbewole and secretary, Dr. Patrick Balogun, said .

"The ASUU Unilorin chapter is not a party to the case before the National Industrial Court and was not heard in the matter. The ASUU Unilorin has not been served with a copy of any order of court setting aside the election of Professor Abdulwahab Egbewole led executive council of the union in the university".
