Nigeria: Renovated Kano Airport for Commissioning March

Kano — The renovated international terminal of the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) will be open for public use in three weeks, Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority (FAAN), Mr. George Uriesi, has said. The MD, who was on inspection tour of the facility, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed.

Mr. Uriesi noted that when commissioned, the airport will provide dignified and respectful services to passengers, adding that it will also generate sufficient traffic to Kano.

He said as part of ongoing projects to make the airport of international standard, multi-storey car park, hotel and aircraft hangars will also be constructed.

The ongoing repairs at various airports in the country are targeted at boosting the socio-economic well-being of the areas where they are sited, according to him.

"We are also building perishable cargo facilities to harness agricultural produce for export, so as to trigger economic growth," he said.
