Nigeria: ANA Abuja to Host BM Dzukogi As Celebrity Guest Writer

ANA Abuja will host Mallam Baba Muhammad Dzukogi, Director General (DG), Niger State Book and Research Development Agency at it's first celebrity guest writer session of the year.

BM Dzukogi is an ardent lover and promoter of books and the reading culture, as well as a mentor, activist, teacher, lecturer, sportsman, and public servant.

Born in Bida, Niger State, BM Dzukogi began the first stage of his education at the Sarkin Zango Primary School, Minna. He was later at the Government Teachers' College, Wushishi, from where he proceeded to the College of Education, Minna where he acquired his NCE in Physical and Health Education. He proceeded afterwards to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical and Health Education, and at the moment he is undergoing his post graduate studies in Sports Management at the same university.

B.M. Dzukogi taught Physical and Health Education at Hill-Top Model School, Minna, for years before transferring his services to IBB University, Lapai in 2006 as the pioneer Senior Sports Officer.

As a book promoter, he started the first literary association of IBB University, THE PEN CLUB, the first students' association of the University. His literary prowess has given the world nine published books apart from his other numerous publications in anthologies of poetry and short stories.

Some of his published works are Midnight Lamp (1996, Halygraph; 2009, Kraftbooks, Ibadan); These Last Tears (1997, Madaz; 2009, Kraftbooks, Ibadan); Potholes in My Dreams (2009, Kraftbooks, Ibadan); Gentle Emerald (ed, 2007, Mazariyya Books, Minna); Sex is Beautiful (2008, Kraftbooks, Ibadan) among others.

B.M Dzukogi has held several literary positions at State and National levels. Among them are Secretary, Association of Nigerian Authors, Niger State, (1994 to 2000), Member, Niger State Library Board, (1996 to 1999); and National Treasurer, Association of Nigerian Authors, (2005 to 2009), Columnist with the New Nigerian Newspaper on Saturdays (Literary Philosophy - 2007) and Director, Mazariya Book Publishers.

In 2008, he was appointed the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Niger State on Documentation and was elevated to the position of the Executive Coordinator on Documentation in 2009. He was once appointed the Head, Research & Documentation Unit in the Governor's Office in 2011.

He is currently the National Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

He will be hosted in Abuja on 7th March, 2013.
