Egypt Witnesses Last Phase of Transition

Egypt is currently going through the last phase of the transitional period as it prepares for the elections of its lower chamber of parliament, slated to kick off on April 22, said Information Minister Salah Abdel-Maqsoud.

The country is steadily moving toward completing the construction of state institutions to achieve stability and development, the minister said during a meeting with Arab media people at the Arab Tourism Media Forum.

Egypt is giving special attention to tourism as an important source of income, he added.

Meanwhile, Abdel-Maqsoud denied claims about selling the premises of the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (Maspero).

Abdel-Maqsoud said that establishing new studios and extending others in Maspero is the best evidence that the ministry is not intending to demolish or sell the archaeological and iconic media building.
