Former Investigator in the Oscar Pistorius Case Resigns from the South African Police Service

The National Prosecuting Authority welcomes the decision by SAPS National Commissioner Riah Phiyega reconstituting the investigating team in the matter involving murder accused, Oscar Pistorius.

The National Prosecuting Authority has confidence in the integrity of the ongoing SAPS investigation and that the investigation will not be impaired by the removal of the former investigating officer, Hilton Botha.

It is in the interest of the administration of justice that the State's case is presented in the most credible of circumstances.
