Former Chairman of the defunct Electoral Commission of Kenya Samuel Kivuitu is dead. The former firebrand passed on at the MP Shah Hospital on Monday night while being treated for cancer.
Reports that began emerging late in the night were confirmed to Capital FM News by authorities early Tuesday morning.
The 74-year-old former civil servant is known to have been battling with throat cancer for a number of years.
According to a physician at MP Shah, Kivuitu had visited the hospital for a routine check up on Monday afternoon and had some x-rays taken before collapsing and being admitted to the facility.
Family members have said that the former ECK boss would be transferred to the Lee Funeral Home as plans begin on giving him a worthy send off.
