Tanzania: Snooker Section Holds Election

THE Dar es Salaam Gymkhana club Snooker Section is set to hold their general election on Tuesday in evening at the club.

The incumbent Secretary Fatema Yusufali told the 'Daily News' in Dar es Salaam that preparation ahead of the election are in top gear ahead of the election. The election will be preceded by the Annual General Meeting.

According to Fatema, only competition secretary's position has attracted two candidates, namely youngster Arjun Lavingia and Ali Gulamali. While incumbent competition secretary Nikhil Sangani has decided against defending his post, Fatema, the only lady in the snooker section, will seek re-election as Section Secretary.

Other positions which will be vied for during the election include Captain, which incumbent Firoz Yusufali is set to stand again, vice-captain, in which Kanabar as sole candidate after Akhil Akberali opted not to seek reelection.

Iqbal Zavery will be aiming to retain his Treasurer post, while Manish Khattar eyes the committee member post. The new elected office bearers will lead the section for a period of one year before another election in February next year.
