Rwanda: Nyanza - Community Work Clears Road

On February 23rd 2013, Nyanza district residents did the work worth Rwf1.4 million when they turned up holding hoes and other instruments ready for community work.

The activity included clearing the road from Busasamana sector to Mukingo sector, which has been impassable for long due to grass and potholes.

Participants included bankers, health workers, transport companies workers, hotel and restaurant workers, cyclists, motorcyclists, reserved forces and residents from Gakenyeri A and B villages.

Elyse Maniragaba, executive secretary of Nyanza cell said that 1200 residents turned up for the community work and cleared 700 metres on the road that connects Busasamana sector and Mukingo sector.

Maniragaba thanked the participants for the good work sending a reminder message to those that prefer staying back and sleep during community work.

Participants were happy about being part of solving their own problems especially clearing the road which has been impassable for months.
