A governor candidate in Kisii James Ongwae yesterday promised to revive cottage industries. Ongwae, who is running on the ODM ticket, said he will come up with "a clear master plan" for the county in the first 100 days.
He said he will carry out proper planning for the nine main towns centres. He was speaking during the launch of his manifesto at Kisii Sports Club.
Ongwae said that the county is rich in various products including bananas, tea, coffee and soapstone which he said needs to be value added through creation of cottage industries to benefit the locals.
"Cottage industries are key to improvement of the economic status of the people and I will revive them once I become governor," said Ongwae.
The former Agriculture PS county residents to keep peace during the polls adding that they should vote somebody not based on clan but policies and experience.
Ongwae will battle out with Lumumba Nyaberi(TNA), former DC peter Ndemo(Ford People) and Zadoc Ogutu.
Others are Francis Mecha Angwenyi (Wiper democratic), Lucas Ondieki Sese (Narc-Kenya), Nyangweso Alfred Akunga (URP) John Machoka(KNC) and Henry Nyanchoka (Independent).
He said that during his tenure as first governor, he will prioritize issues of health, education, creation of jobs for the massive unemployed youths, infrastructure, and environment among other issues.
"I am asking county residents to vote peacefully because that is the only way they can elect true leaders," He said.
The former PS at the same time assured residents that none will be discriminated in terms resource distribution saying every person will be treated equally.
