Sudan: Huge Fire Destroys 336 Houses Near Nyala, South Darfur

Halouf — A huge fire destroyed 336 houses in the area of Halouf in South Darfur on Saturday, sources said, noting the flames also led to the death of 15 goats.

Residents of Halouf, located 40 kilometers north of Nyala, are "living out in the open amid a pile of ash", eyewitnesses told Radio Dabanga.

Some citizens managed to find living space at the village's school, but stressed that authorities of Nyala are neglecting the others.

They are urging the city to provide assistance to the victims of the fire as soon as possible, such as food, clothes, damage compensation and support to rebuild the village.
