National Assembly in Abuja.

Lagos State Governor Mr Babatunde Fashola, yesterday, lambasted the Federal Government for embarking on a national programme it called good governance tour, and said that it was ill- conceived.

Fashola who dismissed the arguments advanced for the tour by the Federal Government while commemorating his 2100 days in office held at the LTV Blue roof said the Federal Government controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could not point to a 100 kilometer road that connects two states in the country.

Fashola who fumed on the Federal Government's ongoing national programme said, "In an attempt to appear busy, they have embarked on an ill- conceived Good Governance tour in Lagos, because they have no project to inspect. The question to ask is whether Nigerians need a tour to know good governance, to know that they are well governed?

"We do not need Good Governance Tour in Lagos before citizens know that their lives are improving. Completed projects such as the Ibeshe Road in Ikorodu , the mother and child care centre in Amuwo Odofin and Alimosho , the completed school of nursing are examples of good governance. The progressing road projects from Mile 12 to Ikorodu , Yaya Abatan/ College Road , Okota Ago Palace way , Ejigbo/ Ajao Link Bridge and road network are examples of good governance"

The Lagos State governor who also took a swipe at the ruling PDP for politicising the Bill Clinton's involvement in the development of Eko Atlantic City said that the principal actors in the party were averse to development of the country.

He said,"On the criticism trailing the recent visit of former United States Of America President, Mr. Bill Clinton at the dedication of the Eko Atlantic city projects, I thought I have seen the worst our opponents have produced, they seem never to be ashamed to roll in the mud, they have shown amateurism again and like they are behind global trends".

Fashola explained that Clinton launched an initiative after he left office to tackle environmental issues, and noted that the Eko Atlantic City projects won an award in New York in 2009 and the visit was a confirmation that Clinton was in touch with global projects across the world.

He said that because the performance of the Lagos State Government revealed the inefficiency of the political opponents," Especially in the way that our national economy has been mismanaged by their party they have the temerity to accuse us of fraudulently reporting performance".
