Nigeria: Group Disburses N1.1 Million to 48 Communities

Birnin Kebbi — The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) yesterday disbursed N 1.1 million to each of the 48 communities from the 21 local governments of Kebbi State.

The disbursement of the of the money, according to the Kebbi State Programme Officer of IFAD , Mr. Joel Aiki, said each of the benefiting communities would carry out projects of their choice that have direct bearing on the lives of their people.

Aiki said the new device for cooking by women in the area was meant to conserve energy.

In his remarks, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Usman Dakingari, applauded the efforts of IFAD for making life more meaningful to rural people through the programmes.

He called on engineers not to rely always on western technology, but to come up with simple technology devices for rural dwellers.
