Somalia: Somali Government Officials Visit Kismayo

A delegation of Somali government officials led by Interior and National Security Minister Abdikarim Hussein Guled visited Kismayo on Monday (February 25th), UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.

Although the purpose of the officials' visit was not made public, it came two days after clashes between two feuding clan militias in the city killed 11 people.

It also came one day after the Somali government invited Jubbaland stakeholders to meet in Mogadishu to discuss the formation of a regional administration.

The delegates are expected to meet with local administrators and officials from the African Union Mission in Somalia.

A postponed community-led conference on the state formation process was due to begin on Tuesday in Kismayo, Somalia's Garowe Online reported.
